Herb Valley sponsors the Flinders Medical Centre Foundation - 20th Anniversary Pink Riboon Ball held on Saturday 24 October 2009 at the Adelaide Convention Centre. The Flinders Medical Centre Foundation raises money for vital medical research and equipment for the Flinders Medical Centre (FMC), to improve the quality of life for present and future generations. Herb Valley supports Port Adelaide District Hockey Club Quiz Night

Herb Valley has been sponsoring the Port Adelaide District Hockey Club since 2003 and we once again provided pize packs for their Quiz Night.
On behalf of the Port Adelaide Hockey Club Junior Committee I would like to take this opportunity the thank you most sincerely for your generous donation for our Quiz Night held on Saturday 22nd August.
The night was well attended and everyone had a great deal of fun. The quiz master was terrific keeping us on our toes with interesting questions that catered for the various ages attending.

Herb Valley releases new product - Vitamin B6
Herb Valley B6 is a water-soluble vitamin of which Pyridoxine Hydrochloride is the main form found in vitamins and supplements.
Clinical studies have indicated that B6 is beneficial in treating the symptoms of Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS) including breast tenderness and mood changes.
Women with severe pregnancy sickness have been found to have low levels of Vitamin B6. A B6 supplement can be an effective treatmnet for reducing the severity of morning sickness.

Roy Morgan Research Indicates High Consumption and Consumer Confidence in Complementary Healthcare Supplements
The Complementary Healthcare Council (CHC) welcomes new research (1) demonstrating that Australian consumption of natural supplements is high, with the majority of consumers believing these supplements are effective in maintaining or restoring their health. The Roy Morgan research found that 75% of respondents had consumed a vitamin, mineral, herbal and/or nutritional supplement within the last 12 months.

Fish, fish oils, n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and cardiovascular health
This position statement was developed to provide recommendations to the general population and health professionals on the consumption of fish, fish oils and n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids for cardiovascular health.
In addition, this statement provides cautions on the consumption of fish with high and medium methyl mercury content.
The Heart Foundation advocates for change within the food industry and from governments.
Recommendations
The Heart Foundation makes the following recommendations with respect to fish, fish oils and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFA) to improve the cardiovascular health of all Australians.

…Effects of Chromium Picolinate on Food Intake and Satiety

Chromium Picolinate has long been included in diet preparations, either alone or in combination, on the presumption that it helps stabilise blood glucose levels. The theory being that if these levels were helped from swinging up and down then people would be less inclined to snack between meals.
Until now it has been difficult get reliable evidence of this effect because supplements are not generally subject to the strict scientific protocols of other drugs which help reduce the effects of other factors which can cloud results.
However Stephen Anton Ph.D. et al recently published the results of a double blind trial in Diabetes Technology & Therapeutics (Vol10, No. 5, Nov 2008) which has shown a small but significant role for Chromium.
